Why they look wet

A wet set is not wet, and there is nothing on it. The effect comes from how the fans are made: instead of opening a fan out into a spread, the lashes are kept closed into a spike, so light hits a narrow dark point rather than a soft fan. Lay a row of those spikes with visible spacing between them and you get the separated, glossy look of lashes that have just come out of water.

It is the most requested style in the studio, and it is not hard to see why — it is dark and defined without being heavy, it photographs extremely well, and it looks deliberate rather than fluffy.

Both sets are J$11,500 — J$14,000 with bottom lashes — and take about ninety minutes.

Classic Wet or Anime

Classic Wet Set — J$11,500. Spikes laid evenly along the lash line with consistent spacing, so the whole eye reads glossy and defined. Dark, piecey and light enough to wear every day. With bottom lashes, J$14,000; a refill within three weeks is J$7,500.

Anime Set — J$11,500. Spikes mapped into distinct, widely-spaced clusters with clear gaps between them. It creates the big, round, doll-eyed shape from anime and editorial makeup — much more graphic, and unmistakable in a photograph. With bottom lashes, J$14,000.

Both are laid over a full lash line, so neither leaves your eye looking bare between the spikes. The difference is entirely in the spacing and the drama.

Refills. Wet sets are built with fan technique, so they refill on the hybrid and volume refill schedule — two to three weeks, and the spike pattern is remapped as it is filled so it never grows out flat.

Questions people ask

What is a wet set lash?

A lash set where the fans are kept closed into narrow spikes rather than opened out, and laid with visible spacing between them. The closed spikes catch the light in a narrow dark point, which is what produces the glossy, just-out-of-the-shower look.

Do wet set lashes look natural?

They look deliberate rather than natural — piecey and defined, closer to a very good mascara look than to bare lashes. If you want something that passes as your own lashes, a short hybrid is the better choice.

What is an anime wet set?

The same closed spikes, mapped into distinct clusters with wide gaps between them, for a round doll-eyed shape. It is the more graphic of the two and the one that reads strongest on camera.

How long do wet sets last?

Two to three weeks before a refill, like every set here. Because the look depends on the spacing between spikes, a wet set benefits from being refilled on time — once the pattern grows out unevenly, the effect softens.

How much is a wet set in Jamaica?

Both the Classic Wet Set and the Anime Set are J$11,500 at Novalashethix in Portmore, with a J$3,000 deposit to confirm.
