What a lash set actually is
An eyelash extension is a single synthetic lash — or a handmade fan of two to eight very fine ones — bonded to one of your own natural lashes with a medical adhesive. Nothing touches your skin, and nothing is glued to the lash next to it.
That isolation is the entire craft. When every extension sits on its own natural lash, the set grows out the way your lashes do: evenly, comfortably, and without pulling. When it is rushed and two or three lashes get stuck together, the shorter one is dragged along by the longer one, and that is what causes the tugging, the gaps and the damage people blame on extensions in general.
A full set at Novalashethix takes ninety minutes to two hours, lying down with your eyes closed. Most people fall asleep. You will be given a shape before anything is applied, and nothing starts until you are happy with it.
Never had extensions before? Book a Uniform Hybrid Set. It is the most forgiving place to start, and you can go fuller next time once you know how you like to wear them.
Three families, and a refill
Everything on the menu is a variation on three things: what the extensions are made of, how they are laid, and how long they are.

Wet Sets

Volume Sets
Handmade fans only, laid dense. The darkest, fullest sets in the studio and the ones that photograph best. From J$11,500.
Read about volumeThe words on the menu
Whichever set you pick, the same words describe how it is laid:
Wispy means the lengths rise and fall in a deliberate pattern — spikes, then dips, then spikes. It creates texture and movement, opens the eye upward, and is the most flattering option on hooded and almond eyes.
Uniform means one even length edge to edge. It reads clean, dense and polished rather than textured — a strip-lash effect made from your own lashes. Round eyes and anyone who wants a smooth line usually prefer it.
& Bottom Lashes adds a fine row underneath, so the eye is framed top and bottom. Every set on the menu can be booked with them, and they can be added on their own for J$2,500.

Every lash service
Prices are in Jamaican dollars and include the full appointment. A J$3,000 deposit confirms your slot and comes off the total on the day.
What happens when you come in
Cleanse
Your natural lashes are cleansed of make-up, oil and sunscreen. Adhesive does not bond to any of those, and this step is most of your retention.
Map
Your eye shape and lash line are read, and the lengths are planned across the eye. You see the plan before anything is applied.
Apply
Ninety minutes to two hours lying down with your eyes closed, one extension isolated onto one natural lash at a time.
Set
The set is brushed out, checked for stickies, and you are shown how to cleanse it. Keep them dry for 24 hours and you are away.
Questions people ask
How long do lash extensions last?
Your own lashes shed and regrow on a natural cycle, and the extension goes with them. A set looks full for around two to three weeks, which is why refills sit on that schedule. With good aftercare a set can stretch to four weeks before it needs a full replacement, and with none it can look sparse in ten days.
Do lash extensions damage your natural lashes?
Not when they are isolated and weighted properly. Damage comes from three things: extensions glued to more than one natural lash, extensions too long or heavy for the lash carrying them, and clients pulling them off. All three are avoidable — the first two here, the third at home. If a set needs to come off, message the suite instead of picking.
How much are lash extensions in Portmore?
At Novalashethix a full set is J$10,000 to J$12,500 depending on the style, or J$12,500 to J$15,000 with bottom lashes. Refills are J$7,500 to J$8,500, and bottom lashes on their own are J$2,500. The full list is above and updates automatically when prices change.
Can I wear make-up with extensions?
Yes, with two rules. Skip mascara entirely — especially waterproof, which needs an oil-based remover that dissolves lash adhesive. And keep oil-based cleansers, removers and sunscreen off the lash line. Powder eyeshadow, liner above the lashes and everything else is fine.
Will they suit my eye shape?
That is what mapping is for. Hooded eyes want lift and texture rather than length, round eyes usually suit a uniform line or length pushed to the outer corner, and downturned eyes want the weight lifted off the outer third. Bring a photo of what you like and it will be adapted to your face.
How do I get to the studio?
Novalashethix is at Hung Way Shopping Mall, Unit #54 on the second floor, on Municipal Boulevard in Portmore — near Portmore Pines Plaza and PriceSmart, about twenty minutes from Kingston across the causeway. Full directions are here.
